DESCRIPTION:Based on the novel of Ken Kesey\nDirected by Zhanko Tomic\n \nDrama theatre Belgrade, R. Serbia\n \nThis play marks the great return of Dragan Bjelogrlic to the stage of the Drama theatre in Belgrade. The legendary dark satire about the individual in a repressive system, mental institutions and freedom of spirit was written in 1962 and premiered inb 1963 with Kirk Douglas in the title role.\n \nZhanko Tomic was born in Skopje, and moved to Serbia where in 1997 he graduated theatre and radio directing at the Faculty of drama in Belgrade. in 1995 he also graduated from the Philosophy faculty in Novi Sad where he studied Serbian language and literature. He has directed 15 theatre plays five at the National theatre in Belgrade, and the others in Subotica, Vrshac, Herceg Novi, at other theatres in Belgrade and in the USA. He was ranked as one of the five most successful stage directors by the professional critics. He has directed four radio dramas produced by Radio Belgrade and was the artistic selector of the drama programme of the Belgrade summer festival in 1997. He is co-founder of the independent theatre group Torpedo 1997 and the troupe “Jorik”. He was one of the initiators for the Association of drama artists of Serbia, and was part of the working group working on the theatre legislative in Serbia. Between 1990-1993 he was working on the drama programme of the Cultural center in Novi Sad. He has translated numerous texts, plays and literature from english to serbian and has published several important works in the realm of theatrology and the theory of language.
