The woodwind quintet Pilekadone is a formation with history. The attractive appearances when its members were still teenagers, the sound of that name-what does it mean, has it anything to do with Charlie Parker’s nickname Yard bird – remains one of the provocative mysteries around Pilekadone. Each of the members of the quintet has an active career as a soloist, as well as an orchestra member of the elite Bulgarian orchestras Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra, Classic FM Radio Orchestra. Pilekadone is proud winner of the prestigious award of the Union of the Bulgarian musicians and dancers Golden Lyre for excellence in the performing arts. The quintet participates in the most renowned festivals in Bulgaria and abroad. Some of the best contemporary Bulgarian composers, among whom the famous GRAMMY nominated Dobrinka Tabakova, create and dedicate works especially to the quintet. Pilekadone’s projects extend beyond the traditional performance of the classical repertoire, including in some cases multimedia and conceptual performances with the participation of actors, the Sofia Boys Choir etc. Among the new concert partners of PILEKADONE Quintet is the world renowned concertmaster of the famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Albena Danailova. In 2019 the Bulgarian National Television presented a film – concert featuring quintet PILEKADONE.
