The youth spirit, high enthusiasm and professionalism was the décor to the concert yesterday evening given by the chamber orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia “Sasha Nikolovski – Gjumar” performing classical music for the audience at Ohrid Sumer Festival.
The young artists made a lovely evening under the baton of maestro Borjan Canev, one of the most refined musicians on the Macedonian scene.
This was the 36th performance of Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia with their chamber orchestra at Ohrid Summer Festival.

It is about a unique programme present all these years since the foundation of the orchestra, which is a tradition to be respected. Of course, great respect to the Festival, which shows that it considers presentation of the youth each year. Surely, a part from the ensemble changes every one or two years, as students finish their university, said the president of Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia, Aleksandar Gerasimovski. The young artists in this ensemble performed pieces by Bach, Mozart, Elgar, Spirovski, Massenet and Warlock.
– The programme was meticulously chosen and corresponds the age of this orchestra because this year the orchestra has many younger new members and for half of them it is the first time performing in a chamber orchestra, bit they showed that they are well-prepared, have tha capacity and we have future in our young musicians, added Gerasimovski.The chamber orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales Macedonia has existed for 35 years and was founded as the first segment at the Summer Music Camp of JMM in Ohrid in 1986. More that 400 young musicians have been part of this unique ensemble, and conductors and artistic managers of this orchestras have been: F. Muratovski, G. Korunovski, S. Nikolovski – Gjumar, V. Nikolovski – Gjumar, M. Spasov, B. Canev, A. Remeright, B. Chadlovska, O. Kontradenko, Misha Katz, Gianluca Martinenghi, Elena Mitrevska.
