The members of the ensemble “Quinteto Adriatico” delighted the audience of the “Ohrid Summer” festival last night in the Church of “St. Sophia.” Performing on stage were violinist Frosina Bogdanoska, violist Dagmar Korbar, cellist Latica Anić, double bassist Ilin-Dime Dimovski, and pianists Federico Lovato and Jana Pavlovska-Moltz.
“Quinteto Adriatico” is a new project by Italian pianist Lovato, Croatian cellist Anić, and Croatian-Macedonian double bassist and longtime collaborator of the “Ohrid Summer” festival, Ilin-Dime Dimovski.
“The name of the quintet is ‘Adriatico’ because all members live around the Adriatic Sea. We have two pianists, each dedicated to different works due to the demanding pieces. The formation is a standard piano quintet with a double bass. We have covered the entire repertoire for piano quintet, performing all possible piano quintets in Macedonia, Italy, and Croatia. Although in different formations, we always return with pleasure to the ‘Ohrid Summer’ festival,” said double bassist Ilin-Dime Dimovski.
The quintet is the result of over 20 years of collaboration between Lovato and Dimovski, who, through their participation and cooperation in the orchestra of the “San Marco” Foundation and the string orchestra “Solisti in Villa” in Portogruaro (Italy), have performed at the “Santa Cecilia” festival in musical partnerships with numerous renowned musicians.
In their constant search for new challenges and quality joint music-making, they contacted the fantastic cellist Latica Anić, who is building an international career as a soloist and teacher at the academy in Liechtenstein, and Macedonian violinist Frosina Bogdanoska, who is the concertmaster of the orchestra in Klagenfurt. Together, she and Dimovski are longtime collaborators in international ensembles such as the “No Borders” orchestra and the “Ignaz Fuchs” ensemble. The final member of the quintet is the talented violist Dagmar Korbar, winner of this year’s “Papandopulo” competition, leader of the viola section in the Netherlands Philharmonic, and assistant professor at the Music Academy in Zagreb.
Joining them for this concert as a guest is Macedonian pianist who lives and works in the USA, Jana Pavlovska-Moltz.
