The Chamber Orchestra of the Music Youth of Macedonia “Sasha Nikolovski-Gjumar” performed as part of the musical program at the “Ohrid Summer” festival last night.
The orchestra, conducted by Maestro Ivan Eminović, featured soloists Simeon Gošev on violin and Enis Alji on cello. Eminović, who has been collaborating with the Music Youth of Macedonia for over a decade, carefully selected a repertoire for the festival audience, featuring both domestic and international composers.
“This year, to our great joy and satisfaction, we are presenting a very interesting program. We have Macedonian authors, Tomislav Zografski’s ‘Sketches,’ a very interesting contemporary piece, then ‘Spring Symphony’ by Risto Avramovski, as well as ‘Macedonian Caprice’ by Dragan Shupleski. International composers were also represented, including David Popper with cellist Enis Alji and Vivaldi’s ‘Spring,’ featuring Simeon Gošev as the soloist,” said Eminović.
Eminović, who studied orchestral conducting, including under the late Professor Sasha Nikolovski-Gjumar, in whose honor the Chamber Orchestra of MMM is named, expressed his ongoing sense of loss
“The best years of my life were my university and master’s days with Sasha Nikolovski-Gjumar, a man, friend, and professor. The loss is significant; he is still missed among us. He always had something to say, always had something to teach. It is an honor for me to conduct the orchestra that bears his name,” he added.
The Chamber Orchestra of the Music Youth of Macedonia has existed for 38 years, founded as the first segment of the Summer Music Camp of MMM in Ohrid in 1986. More than 400 young musicians have been part of this unique ensemble, with conductors and artistic directors including F. Muratovski, G. Korunovski, S. Nikolovski-Gjumar, V. Nikolovski-Gjumar, M.
