Fourth of august is the day when the magic story called “Ohrid Summer” began to knit. In the festival history, the name of the opera diva Ana Lipsha Tofovik will always be remembered, which on August 4 in the distant 1961 as the champion of the Macedonian Opera, together with her husband, the pianist Ladislav Perdlik held the first concert in the church “St. Sophia” which has a wonderful acoustics. Since then, for almost six decades began the knitting the successful story called “Ohrid Summer” which has grown into a Macedonian cultural brand.
Artists from all world meridians, top and sound names from the world of music and theater, each year leave their own stamp on the festival, and leaving Ohrid, bringing with them their impressions of the “Ohrid Summer” and the city.
Judging from the interest so far and full festivals, this festival edition also brought a program that justified the expectations of fans of music and drama art.
-The story of a successful cultural magic that has not faded to this day can not be built and upgraded if there is no huge support from the Government of the Republic of Macedonia through the competent Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Ohrid, the general sponsor Makedonski Telekom as well as our helpers, sponsors, friends who unselfishly help the development and promotion of culture in the country. Thanks to all those who worked tirelessly, to all the artists who with their performance elevated the Festival and gave us the honor to celebrate the successful 58 years, said the director of the National Institution “Ohrid Summer” Suzana Vrencovska.
The festival’s birthday, yesterday after the concert of the group “Synthesis” was marked with a cocktail party and cutting a birthday cake in a pleasant atmosphere and ambience, with many friends and helpers, at the hotel “UNIQUE”.
From the Festival Directorate announce that immediately after the end of the 58th edition, preparations for the future 59th “Ohrid Summer” will begin.
