Mercadonegro salsa orchestra
Mercadonegro salsa orchestra was created in Europe by Armando Miranda (José Armando Miranda Aldama, “El Moro”) born in 1974 in Havana (Cuba), he studied at the Felix Varela Conservatory of Music in Havana and collaborated with Manguaré, Niurka Espinola, Ire Arche.
He is the singer-leader of the group and composer of many songs. Rodrigo Rodríguez born in 1974 in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia is the group’s singer and percussionist. Cesar Correa (Cesar Correa Estrada) born in 1975 in Trujillo, Peru studied piano at the Conservatory of Fribourg and the Jazz School of Bern in Switzerland.
Mercadonegro has managed to create a new style in the salsa music genre. Its musicians come from different parts of Latin America and each bring their own tendencies, Peru, Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, Italy and Brazil are musically mixed and give rise to the own style and sonority of the orchestra mercadonegro.
Thanks to their meeting with violinist Alfredo de la Fe, they participated in prestigious concerts, such as Ronnie Scott’s in London, Glastonbury Festival in England, New Morning in Paris, Istanbul Jazz Festival, Pavarotti and Friends (Modena, Italy), Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Fiesta (Rome, Italy), Bal de la Rose (Monte Carlo), Monaco, Athens (Greece)…Sharing the stage with Carlos Santana, Metálica, Buenavista Social Club, etc.
They had the opportunity to work for three consecutive years with the queen of salsa Celia Cruz, and have accompanied artists such as Cheo Feliciano, Tony Succar, Tito Nieves, Lalo Rodriguez, José Alberto ”El Canario”, Albita Rodríguez, Willie Chirino, Ray Sepúlveda, Willie González, Andy Montañez, Adalberto Santiago, Richie Ray & Bobby Cruz, and others.
Mercadonegro is part of the New York Salsa all Stars project with Giovanni Hidalgo, Jimmy Bosch, José Alberto “El Canario”, Dave Valentin, Frankie Morales. They participated in the recording of the album “Latitudes” by Alfredo de la Fé and then made their own productions. The group stands out for the energy they exude in their compositions and performances, and it is also worth mentioning their good taste and adoration for their idol: Eddie Palmieri. Mercadonegro is, without a doubt, one of the best salsa groups that can be found in Europe.
