Premiere of the theatre play “Amadeus” by Peter Shaffer
Directed by Andrej Cvetanovski
NI Turkish Theatre Skopje
Talent as a category has been assessed and investigated throughout history and is considered to be a valuable attribute of a person. Even if that is a category rather subjective and personal, the real quality can’t be denied and even if tried, it comes to light after the time when the works are created. It can easily be said that talent is the one quality immune to the ravages of time. The genius of a man in a certain field can’t be hidden mainly the relatively few universally accepted genius people.
When it comes to music, one of the few people who have left a lasting mark on humanity with their works is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. But he was not accepted and hailed by his contemporaries. All but one. His eternal nemesis Antonio Salieri is the only person who recognized his genius. And it is due to Mozart’s genius talent that Salieri becomes his archrival. Salieri carries the burden of being able to know music so well that he is capable of recognizing the divinity of Mozart, at the same time not being able to ever compose anything so perfect himself.
Talent and sense are not connected to each other, they are not developed together and should not be sought together. It is exactly what the goal of our play is – to celebrate talent and sense as two different principles and portray their eternal and universal battle.
