“Every brilliant thing”
by Duncan Macmillan
Directed by: Dejan Projkovski
OXO production, Skopje
Inspired by the play “Every Brilliant Thing” by one of the most relevant contemporary British authors, Duncan Macmillan, the monodrama “Every Brilliant Thing” is a cheerful and witty journey through the scars of life of one man, who, by making a list of all the most beautiful things worth living for, turns the theatrical space into a womb which gives birth to collective hope.
Introducing the audience to his pet, his greatest love, his family, his mother’s psychological problems and the traumas that come with it, the protagonist breaks the fourth wall in a witty, titillating way and begins to mix reality and fiction, life and theatre, emphasizing that everything good and everything bad that happens to us is natural, belongs to us all equally, thus subtly making life a theatre and vice versa.
Igor Angelov is one of Macedonia’s finest actors, successful on both the theatre stage and on the film screen. He has taken part in projects in Macedonia, Bulgaria and Serbia and is employed at the Drama Theatre in Skopje. This is his first monodrama, and the success off it has seen increased ticket sales which is a proof of its artistic, aesthetic and performance value.
Dejan Projkovski is one of the best and most sought after stage directors on the Balkan and in Europe. His work in numerous theatres in the region has led to huge critical acclaim and awards at the most important festivals.
