The National Opera and Ballet of the Republic of North Macedonia will be performing the ballet “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” as part of the program of “Ohrid Summer” tonight. The ballet, divided into nine scenes, will be performed on the stage of “Dolni Saraj” starting at 9 p.m. The roles will be played by Alexandra Mijalkova, Mimi Pop-Aleksova Atanasovska, Ivana Kocevska, Sasha Evtimova, Hristina Nakjevska, Miroslav Mitrashinovikj, Balázs Lochei (Hungary), Agim Baftii, and Andrew Cook (England).
The music for “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” was composed by Kaliope Bukle, with choreography and direction by Olga Pango. The libretto and dramaturgy were created by Sasho Dimoski. Rade Vasilev served as the costume designer, with Goran Bozhinov and Sasha Evtimova as assistant choreographers. Emil Petrov handled the multimedia and design, while Milcho Aleksandrov designed the lighting. Zlatitsa Popovska was responsible for the makeup design. The ballet “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” incorporates scenic elements from the opera “The Dragon’s Bride.”
