“Una”

By Momo Kapor

Directed by Dejan Projkovski

Theatre “Zvezdara” Belgrade, Serbia

The play “Una” is based on motifs from Momo Kapor’s cult novel by the same name, but is given new meaning and connotations in line with the times we live in.

Why is Una important today and now? The play adapted by Stevan Koprivnica is a continuation and an answer for the deep and universal human need for a story that is about memories, love and transience. In his novel, Momo Kapor doesn’t only tell a life story, he opens themes and subject matters that still bear importance. “Una” is a play about human relationships, about the influence of the past on the presence, and about how just one memory can shape a whole life.

In times when technologies and social propaganda overflow daily life, when it is tough to maintain deep and sincere relationship, this introspective and emotional drama reminds us of the importance of saving authenticity an honesty.

Why “Una” in the theatre? T is because we invite you to stop and listen to the story that we could avoid- the story of our own identity, the love that stays in time and the coming to terms with oneself.

In a world full of noise and superficiality, “Una” becomes a space where truth and emotions can still be unravelled and felt in their full glory. I believe that this play has the potential to make room for mutual understanding and empathy, to help us decide and remind us how deeply within us lie the values of the continued themes of life.
