The Ohrid Summer Festival for Art Lovers tonight brings a new musical experience through the performance of the fluteist Elvis Rudy and pianist Marin Gholma from Albania. The concert will take place at the church “Saint Sophia” starting at 9 pm.
The program includes the Sonata for Flute and Piano by Philip Guber, Grand Concerto Sonata op. 85 by Friedrich Kulau, and Sonatina for the flute and piano by Pierre Sancan.
The formation of the first class of flutists in Albania was the result of the will and hard work of those who were professors of the then artistic “face” (a type of secondary art education). This is the time when Elvis Rudy begins to study the flute instrument under the mentorship of Mirela Selenica and Isfu Spahiu. He finishes his studies at the University of Music in Bucharest, with Professor Virgil Frank, and returns to Tirana, where he starts working as an assistant lecturer at the Academy of Arts. Later this institution was renamed the University of Arts, and the title of Rudy grew into an assistant professor. The nine-month scholarship from the Conservatoire in Paris provides him with an excellence with Pierre Yves Artod and Sophie Scherier. During these years, his contribution to the interpretation and promotion of the Albanian contemporary music is significant.
