“Lyrical evening”

Pascal Gallois–conductor   The career of Gallois includes several activities: in addition to the extraordinarily fruitful output as an enigmatic and passionate virtuoso on the bassoon and renowned pedagogue, he recently established himself as a successful conductor and an innovative artistic director. As one of the most renowned masters of the bassoon, Gallois inspired the Italian composer Luciano Berio to compose Sequenza XII (1995), one of the legendary series which significantly expanded the horizons of the technical and expressive capabilities of the instruments chosen by the composer. The list of composers who wrote for Gallois include Pierre Boulez, who dedicated his Dialogue de l’ombre double (2007) to Gallois, and Wolfgang Rihm, whose Psalmus for bassoon and orchestra was premiered by Gallois the same year, with the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra conducted by Kent Nagano. The significant “musical moments” initiated and directed by Gallois include the homage to Boulez on his 85^th birthday at Musee des Arts et Metiers in Paris, with the clarinetist Jorg Widmann and the occasion of Henri Dutilleux’s 95^th birthday at Hotel de Lauzun. He has recorded numerous works by many contemporary composers, from Boulez to Kurtag; from Berio to Neuwirth… Already established within the music scene in Paris, in 2015 he creates the festival Les Musicales de Quiberon in Brittany, where he combines an exciting mix of traditional and contemporary repertoire. He is active as a conductor, regularly performing with orchestras and ensembles, including Orchestre de Bretagne, International Contemporary Ensemble New York, Ensemble Prague Modern and Meitar Ensemble in Israel.     Milena Arsovska -soprano   Soprano Milena Arsovska is one of the finest Macedonian vocal artists of the younger generation with a significant international career. She is a graduate of the Faculty of music in Skopje, and earned her post graduate diploma at the University for music and arts in Vienna. Her stage debut came at the Macedonian National Opera where she performed roles in “The magic flute”, “Turn of the screw”, “L’Italianna in Algieri”, “Rita”…, while her Vienna debut at the Theater an der Wien was in “Die Fledermaus” and “Suor Angelica”. These were then followed by engagemets in the theatres in Magdeburg, National theatre in Weimar, National opera in Prague and Ostrava, as well as appearances at renowned festivals. Her concert tours take her in cities in Europe, Japan, China and the USA. Milena Arsovska’s recordings include a live CD of Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with Vienna Chamber orchestra, and her voice has been featured in Macedonian motion pictures “The Great water” and “The war is over”.   Gonca Bogoromova Krapovski-soprano   The professional debut of Macedonian soprano Gonca Bogoromova Krapovski comes in 2006 with the Macedonian philharmonic which is then followed by numerous concerts as a soloist a chamber musician in her native country and abroad. She has collaborated with renowned ensembles and artists including the orchestras of the Plovdiv opera, the Chamber orchestra of the Macedonian philharmonic, the Munich chamber orchestra. She works extensively on presenting the works of Macedonian composers which has led to her premiering the works “Songs of love and death” by Pande Shahov, the vocal cycle “Hope” by Damjan Temkov and “Death is a blue window open to the day” by Bojana Petrovic Aleksova which is dedicated to Bogoromova.  On the operatic stage she debuted in the role of Zerlina in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”, and her international stage debut was as Magda in Puccini’s “La Rondine” in the Opera of Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. With the Wien Klang Sinfnonietta she performed on their concert tour in China.
