French evening at “Ohrid Summer” with the sounds of the harp
Tonight, Ohrid Summer Festival will organize the traditional French evening, which will feature French harpist Eloise Carlean-Jones. The concert will be held in the church “St. Sophia” starting at 21:00.
Highly praised by music critics for “clarity and dexterity of sound”, Eloise Carlean-Jones is a young French harpist who performs as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician.
Carlean-Jones won a gold medal at the fourth Manhattan Harp Competition in 2019 and performed around the world from Carnegie Hall to the Vienna Concert Hall. He has performed as a chamber musician at the Aspen and Tangelwood festivals, and as a member of an orchestra he has played with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra. In 2020, she was hired to be a harpsichordist with the Paris Orchestra.
Her repertoire spans several musical epochs, and in addition to the music of Baroque masters, she often performs works by contemporary composers. Her carefully selected programs attract the audience, and she strives to engage her through skillfully made arrangements of popular or folk music, which directly expands the repertoire for this instrument.
Eloise holds a Master’s degree from the Yale University Academy of Music and a degree from the Curtis Institute of Music with a degree in Music Performance and a degree in Historical Performance Performance.
The French evening at “Ohrid Summer” is organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of France in the Republic of Northern Macedonia and the French Institute in Skopje.
