The String Quintet consists of members of the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck. Susanne Merth-Tomasi, from Innsbruck, joined the TSOI in 1998 as principal first violin, and in recent seasons has repeatedly filled the position of 3rd concertmaster on an interim basis, as well as in the Tiroler Ensemble für Neue Musik. Dragan Trajkovski, an Austrian with Macedonian roots, has been the principal double bass of the TSOI for 15 years, while Andrej Jablokov, who comes from Bratislava, has been playing in the second violin section since 2012. The musicians have been playing together for many years in various formations, and last year two new additions to the TSOI completed the quintet: principal viola Eleonora De Poi and principal cellist Leonardo Sesenna from Italy. De Poi has played in orchestras such as the Teatro Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Teatro La Fenice, and the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Sesenna has been a member of the Orchestra of La Scala in Milan and Associate Principal Cellist of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
