Serbian Evening at Ohrid Summer Festival tonight at the Dolni Saray venue at 9 p.m. brings the great Serbian violinist, the worldwide known Stefan Milenkovikj and the Chamber Orchestra “Camerata Novi Sad” with the attractive project “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff, directed by Ana Krstajikj.
The Manager of Ohrid Summer Festival, Natasha Popovikj, at the today’s press conference announced that the 62nd edition of the Festival continues its tradition cooperating with the Embassies in the Republic of North Macedonia, which support performances of renowned and eminent artists.
– Tonight within the Serbian Evening, Ohrid Summer Festival will offer something new, exclusive, very attractive and aimed for wider audience. This is yet another project of topmost quality and renowned artists full of energy, passion, topmost interpretation for the pleasure of the festival audience. Many times Stefan Milekovikj has performed in front of the Macedonian audience, which has been delighted by each of his performances, but this outstanding violinist also delights music lovers worldwide. The violin virtuoso Stefan Milenkovikj gained the epithet “wunderkind” at a young age, and because of his topmost performances here, at the Ohrid Summer Festival scene, I can freely say that he is a great friend of ours and the audience’s favourite, pointed out Popovikj.
The Ohrid and the Macedonian audience’s favourite, Stefan Milenkovikj said that “Carmina Burana” to be performed at Dolni Saray tonight, is closest to the original version. He didn’t conceal the pleasure to be in Ohrid and at the Ohrid Summer Festival.
– Audiences recognise “Carmina Burana” as a mage work for a big orchestra and two choirs, but this version, I would say, is even closer to the original, arranged by Ana Krstajikj. That is a version for violin and a chamber orchestra. We added several more pieces that fit the whole repertoire in some way. It is about the “Three Preludes” by Gershwin, arranged for violin and chamber orchestra, Piazzola’s “Summer”, since it’s summertime and “Queen”’s “Bohemian Rhapsody”, a piece we simply had to add in the repertoire since it is a timeless ballad, announced the mega-popular violinist Milenkovikj.
The ensemble “Camerata Novi Sad” regularly takes part in important festivals around Serbia. Laste season they performed at the gala opening ceremony of the first city concert hall in Novi Sad, participated at the Kotor Festival and at the Chamber Music Festival in Novi Sad. They completed the project “Carmina Burana” Together with Stefan Milenkovikj.
– It is a great honour and pleasure that we are finally part of this renowned festival, Ohrid Summer Festival. We all enjoy the brilliant Ohrid and I think that the pleasure will be even bigger since we perform together with our friend Stefan Milenkovikj, after the many performances we have had together since 2011. I believe that we couldn’t choose better repertoire for such a festival and for such an amazing place, says Marko Miletikj, artistic director of the chamber ensemble “Camerata novi Sad”.
As the director of the Festival, Natasa Popovikj announced at the press conference today, the Festival continues to realise the quality, exclusive and attractive programme this year up until 20th August.
