Dantas piano mastery – artistic pleasure for the audience of “Ohrid Summer”

The young but very talented Portuguese pianist Vasco Dantas last night was a real surprise for the audience of “Ohrid Summer” showing the great virtuosity with which he rules the piano. The concert at St. Sophia Church was a musical journey from his native Portugal to Germany, where he lives and works.

-I presented to the wonderful audience what I have on my last solo CD through which I travel through my homeland, through Portugal to the country where I live, Germany. I also performed some of my own compositions, said Dantas.

The young pianist first heard about the biggest music and stage event in the country and the region, the Ohrid Summer Festival, from his Macedonian colleague who lives in Germany.

– I first heard about “Ohrid Summer” a year ago through a friend in Germany who is from North Macedonia. I am glad that despite the pandemic, this festival is still held with appropriate restrictions. I am in Ohrid for the first time. When I came to hold the rehearsal yesterday morning, I was pleasantly surprised by the acoustics of this church, the frescoes on the walls, and of course the beautiful piano, said Dantas.

His plans, as he announced, are to continue his piano career and find new ways of making music, not only classical, but also different genres.

Vasco Dantas is part of the elite society of young world pianists whose classical pianism exceeds the limits of his age. He showed that last night when he played music at the Ohrid Summer Festival with a specific sensibility and great instrumental mastery.

Last night’s concert at the festival was held in compliance with the new restrictive measures prescribed for dealing with the covid-pandemic, limited audience, mandatory wearing of masks, hand disinfection, but also showing evidence of immunization with covid-vaccine.
