Grubi: My career started at “Ohrid Summer”

Top Macedonian instrumentalists Blerim Grubi on viola and Maria Vrskova piano performed a wonderful evening for the audience at the Ohrid Summer Festival with their concert on the standard festival stage, podium in the church “Sveta Sofia”.

Last night’s concert was the second performance for pianist Vrškov at this year’s edition of the festival. Previously she performed within the framework of the Swedish evening at “Ohrid Summer”, joining the piano sopranist Biljana Stafanson and Ljiljana Jovanovic.

– As with every performance of the “Ohrid Summer”, the excitement is too big because it is not easy to play on this scene. We had a nice concert, an interesting, summer, but not an easy program. We both enjoyed it, and I think that the audience enjoyed it too, says the pianist Vrskova.

The beginnings of the career of the artist Blerim Grubi are tied to the festival “Ohrid Summer”.

– I feel very emotional when I come to play here. I played on “Ohrid Summer” and with chamber orchestra, in quartets, but also solo. Right here, I started my music career 30 years ago. Young hopes from all over Yugoslavia played at the festival, and then I also introduced myself. I feel that energy that has been given to me by the church “St. Sophia” whenever I come here, says Grubi.

The program, which was presented at “Ohrid Summer”, will feature two prominent Macedonian artists, Grubi and Vrškova, in October in Pristina. The pianist Vrskova, as announced earlier in September, will play in New York with solo and duo-program.
