With long and stormy ovations and crowded spectacle, the Symphony Orchestra of Briansk from Russia, which last night under the baton of the maestro Eduard Ambartsumyan, was awarded a concert in the church “St. Sophia” within the Russian evening at “Ohrid Summer”.
Russian artists at their masterful performance brought together compositions by Edward Baghdasaryan, Georgi Sviridov, Leroy Anderson and Alexander Borodin, and they also performed the bells ‘Hungarian dances’, the Strait Overture to the opera “The Bat”, and the Polonaise of the opera “Evgeniy Onegin” by Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky.
On the Russian evening, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Sergei Bazdnikin, also expressed his gratitude to the director of “Ohrid Summer” Natasa Popovic, and to the entire team of the festival, as he said, the wonderful organization of this main an event in the cultural life of the country, but also for the support for the holding of the Russian evening.
-The virtuosic performance of the wonderful musical works by renowned Russian and European composers has left no one indifferent to any of the numerous audiences. As ambassador of Russia, it is my pleasure to emphasize that musicians from our country traditionally occupy a significant place in the program of “Ohrid Summer”. The festival was attended by world famous artists such as Mstislav Rostropovich, Leonid Kogan and his son Pavel Kogan, Svayatoslav Richter, Galina Vishnevskaya and Elena Obraztsova, Dmitry Hvorostovsky, Maxim Wangerov, Vadim Repin, Boris Berezovsky and many others. This is a spectacular confirmation of the huge popularity of Russian culture here, as well as for the mutual spiritual attraction of the peoples of our two countries. At the festival “Ohrid Summer” I wish successful work, to his guests strong impressions from the performances of the stars of the world art, and to the artists themselves, I wish them new creative achievements, said Ambassador Bazdnikin.
