The National Theater from Bitola tonight will perform at “Ohrid Summer”
The National Theater Bitola carries the theater play “The Bacchae – A short History of Decay” after Bacchae
from Euripides, directed by Igor Vuk Torbica, at Ohrid Summer Festival. The performance will be played at the Culture Center “Grigor Prlicev” starting at 9 pm.
According to the director Igor Vuk Torbica, among the remaining and preserved Greek tragedies of Euripides,
Bacchae rises for several thematic and formal reasons, but, as he says, it is perhaps most important that
Bacchae contain the allusion of theater itself and the fact that they speak for his hidden power and our civilization consciousness, the power of storytelling.
-The text is a deep puzzle about the relativity and the variability of our identity. A study of how we recognize the divine, and at the same time a reminder that this “divine” comes in forms that we are not ready to accept and recognize. But perhaps the most interesting question we are dealing with in our play is: why identity, instead of the values that we share and fight for, is primarily constituted “with the other” – hostility towards the “outer opponent”? Do we hide in that way that the real “enemy among us – are we ourselves?”, That we are true foreigners themselves and each other, that nothing sabotates us more than the social obstacles we have imposed ourselves, says Vuk Torbica.
In the play “The Bacchae – A short History of Decay” play Maja Andonovska – Ilijevski, Ognen Drangovski, Sonja Mihajlova, Ivan Jercic, Ilina Chorevska, Martin Mircevski, Vasko Mavrovski, Viktorija Stepanovska – Jankulovska, Valentina Gramosli, Petar Spirovski, Sandra Gribovska and Anastasia Hristovska .
