The music program at the Ohrid Summer Festival tonight at 21:00 in the church “St. Sophia” will bring a concert of the Canadian pianist Eugene Skovorodnikov.
To art lovers in the acoustic ambience of the Ohrid cathedral church, Skovorodnikov will present works by Frederic Chopin and Petar Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Criticism describes him as a performer with “outstanding performance technique”, “incomparable elegance and magic power”, “perfect mastery in playing and a stylish sense of style”. Eugene Skovorodnikov completed his undergraduate studies in 1981 at the State University of Arts in Kharkov, Ukraine, and postgraduate studies at the Conservatoire in St. Petersburg. After finishing the studies, he remains to work in this institution until 1990, when he leaves the country.
In 2006, Eugene Skovorodnikov for his achievements in educational and performing practice was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in the field of music from the State University of Arts in Kharkov. During his career, he performed at some of the most prestigious concerts in Russia, Canada, Italy, China, Israel, Ukraine, USA. Apart from the solo activity, Skovorodnikov also acts as a chamber performer, collaborating with many famous musicians. He can often meet as a member of the jury at the international piano competitions in Italy and Germany, and his master classes are also held at international festivals in several countries.
