Concert for cello and piano at “Ohrid Summer”

The music program of the festival “Ohrid Summer” continues tonight with a concert by Russian artists, cellist Denis Shapovalov and pianist Alexander Veršinin, which will take place at the church “St. Sophia” at 9 pm.
What distinguishes Shapovalov from the rest of the gifted cellists in the world is his complex penetration into the essence of the works he performs, the incredible technique and extraordinary expressiveness.

He performs at important international festivals in Russia, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, the United States, Japan and China, and collaborates with prominent orchestras such as the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Moscow Chamber Music Orchestras and Moscow Musicians Soloists “, the Bavarian Radio Orchestra, the Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baltimore Orchestras, Tokyo, Bratislava, Macau and others. He performs under the baton of Lorin Mazel, Yuka Peka Saraste, Vladmir Fedoseyev, Utaka Sado, Yoel Lev, Andrew Litton, Vladimir Spivakov, Yuri Bashmet, Valery Polyansky, Thomas Sandlerling, Jännadrea Nozeda and many others.

In addition to being a soloist, Denis Shapovalov is also a career-maker, performing as a conductor, holding master classes and composing. His works are greatly received by critics and the audience.
Russian pianist Alexander Vershinin was born in 1965 in Moscow. He graduated and received a masters degree with Honors at the Moscow Conservatory after which he was given a professorial degree, and since 2009 has his own class at the University of Sakualo in Japan.

Veršinin’s repertoire includes music from different genres, from classical works to jazz improvisations. Particular attention is paid to the opus of Alexander Skryabin, his latest works, five sonatas and the piano section of the symphonic poem “Prometheus”. Since 2001, Vershinin is a member of the Foundation “Skryabin”. With pedagogy as his primary call, Vershinin holds master classes in Russia and beyond, but successfully combines them with his performances at international festivals and tours in France, Germany, Japan, USA, South Korea, etc.

He is the founder and art director of various projects, including the cross-fellow finger project “India in Sino”, “Classic and Jazz”, as well as a series of classical concerts titled “Historical Concerts”. His original works “Svita Bajki” for solo voice, saxophone, jazz piano trio and string orchestra gain great reception among the audience, but also with the professional music public in Russia.
