Within the frames of “Ohrid Summer” program, the Chamber Orchestra of Macedonia’s music youth “Sasha Nikolovski-Gjumar” will hold a concert tonight at the church “St. Sophia” at 9 pm.
The program includes compositions by Antonio Vivaldi, Anton Arenski, Bela Bartok, Astor Piazzola, Ellen Blazy and Edward Grieg. The soloists of the evening will be the violinists Eva Bogoevska and Bojan Ilkoski.
The Chamber Music Orchestra of Macedonia’s music youth “Sasha Nikolovski-Gjumar” was founded more than 30 years ago, as the first segment of the Summer Music Camp of the Music Youth of Macedonia in 1986. Today this ensemble is the first and only one of its kind in the region of Southeast Europe. It is composed of students from the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje, but it can often meet young musicians from other countries.
The Chamber Orchestra of the Music Youth of Macedonia with its music during this period has been imposed as a performing composition with high professional qualities. Conductors and artistic leaders of the orchestra were significant names from the Macedonian music scene: Fimcho Muratovski, Gorjan Korunovski, Sasa Nikolovski-Gjumar, Vanja Nikolovski-Gjumar, Miroslav Spasov, Borjan Canev, Biser Kadlovska, Oleg Kondratenko, but also famous foreign conductors such as Arild Remate, Misha Katz, Ganluka Martenengi and others.
So far, the orchestra has performed more than 90 concerts, greatly accepted by listeners and critics, and has won national awards and recognitions.
Music lovers who will not be able to attend the “Saint Sophia” church where the concert will be held, will be able to enjoy the chamber orchestra of MMM through the transmission of the Internet.
