The famous Belgian-Serbian pianist Aleksandar Madzar will present himself at the Ohrid Summer Festival tonight. The concert will be held in the church “St. Sophia” starting at 9 pm, while the repertoire includes works by Josef Haydn, Petar Ilic Tchaikovsky, Johannes Brahms and Frederic Chopin.
Aleksandar Madzar is a Serbian pianist, who is introduced to the piano at the age of six with the mentoring of Gordana Malinović, and later he is perfected by the famous Arbo Valdma, Elisso Virsaladze and Daniel Blumenthal in Novi Sad, Belgrade, Moscow and Brussels.
He had his debut in 1990 with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra led by Ivan Fischer. Since then, he regularly holds recital, solo and chamber concerts throughout Europe in collaboration with the famous: Andre Previn, Marcello Vioti, Pavo Arvi, Andris Nelson and many other important names from the music literature. His tour covers and performances on musical scenes outside Europe, in the Americas, South Africa, countries of the East and Australia.
Pianist Madžar has won several awards at the Geneva, Leeds competitions as well as the prestigious international piano competitions “Ferrucco Busoni” and “Umberto Micelli”. He is currently working as a professor at the Royal Flemish Conservatory in Brussels.
