Renowned Macedonian artists, violinist Kliment Todoroski and pianist Marija Vrshkova, will perform tonight as part of the “Ohrid Summer” music program. The concert will take place in the church “St. Sophia” at the festival’s standard time of 9 PM.
Born in 1984 in Ohrid, Kliment Todoroski began his musical education in Ohrid and Bitola before continuing at the National Music Conservatory in Toulouse, France, under the tutelage of Professor Blagoja Dimchevski until 2002. He graduated from the Faculty of Music in Skopje in the class of Professor Oleg Kondratenko. Todoroski is the recipient of numerous national and international awards. Notable performances include his collaboration with world-renowned pianist Simon Trpceski on a concert tour across Macedonia (2007-2008), the Easter Concert in Skopje (2008), and a performance at the United Nations headquarters at the invitation of President Srgjan Kerim. He was the soloist in a concert conducted by the prodigy Illich Rivas at the “Skopje Summer” festival in 2009. Todoroski has also worked with composer Marjan Nechak, recording violin solos for various ballet and theater productions in Zagreb, Maribor, Novi Sad, and Skopje. Since 2009, Kliment Todoroski has been the concertmaster at the National Opera and Ballet.
Marija Vrshkova, born in Bitola, completed her primary and secondary music education there. She graduated from the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje with the highest honors, cum laude, under Professor T. Svetiev, where she also completed her master’s studies in piano. During her education, she received numerous awards within the former Yugoslavia, with her most significant international achievement being the Third Prize at the International Young Pianists Competition in Rome, Italy. Besides several recorded CDs with prominent Macedonian artists such as Ana and Oleg Kondratenko, Blerim Grubi, and Strasho Temkov, she recorded her first solo CD with Macedonian piano music in 2010. As a soloist and chamber musician, Vrshkova has performed in countries including Turkey, Croatia, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the UK, Ukraine, Italy, Bulgaria, Russia, the USA, Serbia, Austria, and Greece. She regularly participates in prestigious festivals such as “Ohrid Summer,” DMM, “Golden Lyre,” and “Autumn Music Festivities.” Her artistic achievements include the Special Artistic Achievement Award from the international jury at the International Competition “Ohrid Pearls” in 2009, and three “Virtuosi” awards for musical performance in 2013 and for chamber ensemble in 2015 and 2016. Currently, Marija Vrshkova is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Music Arts in Skopje.
