Cello and piano concert tonight at “Ohrid Summer”

The Russian cellist Kiril Rodin and the Bulgarian pianist Zheni Zaharieva will have an all-night concert within the music program of the Ohrid Summer Festival tonight at the St. Sophia Church, starting at 9 p.m.

Kiril Rodin was born in Moscow. He studied at the Gnesin Music School, followed by studies at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of Natalia Shahovskaya. In 1984 and 1986 he won first prizes and gold medals at the competitions of the Music Youth in Belgrade and at the VIII International Competition “P. И. Tchaikovsky. ” He builds his career as a soloist with performances by top world orchestras and conductors: Gergiev, Fedoseev, Duto, Gorenstein, Ovchinokov and many others, and performs in more than 40 countries around the world. As a chamber musician he is a member of the trio “Brahms” and the ensemble “Piazzolla studio”. His numerous recorded materials include works by: Bach, Beethoven, Haydn, Grieg, Paganini as well as by Russian composers: Rachmaninoff, Arensky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Shostakovich and many others. Kiril Rodin is a member of the jury of international competitions in Russia and around the world, and today, along with his solo career, he is also a professor at the conservatory “P. И. Tchaikovsky ”and full guest professor at the Beijing Conservatory, R. China.

Pianist Zheni Zaharieva has been present on the world concert stages for more than 60 years. She has led her career in numerous concert halls in Europe, USA, Asia and Africa, and for her artistic achievements and contribution to culture she has won many exceptional awards such as “Crystal Lyre” for top artistic achievements, the State Award of the Republic of Macedonia. Bulgaria was awarded the Merit to the Nation and State, the Golden Age Award for Contribution to Bulgarian Music and Culture, the highest French medal for achievements in culture and the arts, as well as awards from Japan and other countries. He performs with many world orchestras and conductors, including the orchestras in The Hague, Amsterdam, Liege, Moscow, Singapore, Sofia and many others under the baton of: Veronika Dudarova, Thomas Zanderling, Ingo Metzmacher and numerous other Bulgarian and foreign artists. Her performances have been recorded on multiple carriers for Carousel – London, EMS – Brussels, AVM Classics – London, Veton – Rotterdam, Gema – Berlin, Heritage Society – USA and ” Balkan “- Sofia.
