Ohrid Jazz Breeze Starts – Jazz Weekend at “Ohrid Summer”

With the concert of the Dutch-British “Dominique Marshal Trio” tonight at the Dolni Saraj stage starts jazz weekend program, Ohrid jazz breeze, this year’s 57th edition of the Ohrid Summer Festival.
It is a novelty in the festival program scheme, with a performance by top artists from the world of jazz music.

Ohrid Summer Festival Selector selector Gjorgji Cutkovski stressed that the upcoming event is an attempt to enrich the festival’s program, with musical and artistic performances designed to complete the artistic experiences of the different festival audiences.

The program for the upcoming jazz weekend provides two concerts a day for the next three evenings, starting at 21 and 22:30 on the Dolni Saraj stage. The program is an all-purpose concert of the Macedonian-Danish band “MOMB and Pampers from the Folk”, through the Danish string quartet “T.A.O.”, the Finnish artist of the bandeon and accordion Heli Siekkinen and the US-British “Project Hideaway” The final on Sunday with the performance of an American band led by Larry Dunn, otherwise the former keyboardist of the world-famous group Earth, Wind and Fire.

     – We are honored that we are part of the Ohrid Summer Festival, in this beautiful city filled with culture, on the even more beautiful lake … This is my first visit to Macedonia, with impatience and great excitement we expect the performance with the other members of my band “Larry Dunn and Friends “. On the beautiful scene next to the lake itself, we will perform our compositions, classical jazz works, and of course, part of the world hits of “Earth, Wind and Fire,” said Dunn.

Finnish accordion artist and bandeeper Heli Siekkinen, who is otherwise a performer of classical music compositions, said that she will perform especially for “Ohrid Summer” with a program different from her usual repertoire.

     – I am very happy to have got the opportunity to play here with a new program, I expect a fun night for everyone who will come to my concert, she said.

Laurence Targensen of Denmark also revealed that he is particularly honored to be part of these top names.

     – My last album has several singles. At the moment I play a classical jazz form of music, and I was also a writer partner of Kylie Minogue and other famous artists. I’m very happy to be here. Our program is tomorrow afternoon after 20:00 and we start with an acoustic string quartet, noted Targensen.

The festival audience will also be able to enjoy some of the compositions that the jazz artists will perform in the 7/8 cycle, characteristic of the Macedonian music.
